Hobby Habits
Hobby Habits was created as my capstone project at the University of Cincinnati. The project was inspired by the growing impact of technology overconsumption which has been linked to increased stress, anxiety, burnout, and a lack of fulfillment among college students. Seeking to encourage healthier leisure habits, Hobby Habits redirects screen time toward creative exploration through a series of hobby kits designed specifically for busy college students.
-
Each kit provides the tools, materials, and guidance needed to begin a new hobby, breaking the learning process into approachable, manageable steps. Through detailed instructions, practice exercises, and a creative kickoff project, Hobby Habits aims to reduce barriers to entry while helping students build lasting habits and discover more meaningful ways to spend their free time.
RESULT
Designed a branded hobby kit experience that combines accessible learning tools, creative exploration, and habit-building framework that lowers barriers to trying new hobbies while encouraging long-term creative engagement.
TASK
Develop a design solution informed by research on technology overconsumption and habit formation that encourages college students to engage in more intentional and leisure activities.
